There are three main types of pool filters.

Sand filters use pressure to push the dirty water through a layer of sand to come out clean at the bottom.

Catridge Pool filters use fiber meshes to clean impurities.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) based filters use a very fine material coating that can filter out debris as small as 5 microns.


Remember the following tips to keep your pool filter in top condition all season long:

* Use a ball valve in your swimming pool filter's drain port. That way the filter can be bypassed during vacuuming.

* Empty your pool filter as part of your winterizing process. Water expands when it freezes and will cause severe damage to your filter.

* All swimming pool filters require some type of maintenence and part replacement. Use our part diagrams to help you find the correct part.
